I’ve always loved the idea of being a skateboarder. As a kid, I got a skateboard as a birthday gift—or something like that. Being good at sports, it was easy for me to learn the basics and find balance. But since then, I haven’t progressed much.
As a teenager, I got excited about skateboarding again, but after kinda seriously injuring my foot while attempting a trick, I gave up. It felt too risky for my body. Even so, I still loved the skate lifestyle and style. Around the same time, I discovered a passion for making funny music. Inspired by my experience as a 'fake skater', I wrote some sarcastic lines and created a beat from scratch.
Here’s the result—I used FL Studio to make it.
During a creative writing course I attended, I wrote some lines of poetry. Later that same year, while exploring the musical software Audacity and experimenting with my music-making abilities, I set my poems to music. Here are the results.
During the COVID pandemic, me and my friend, Cristiano Oliveira, decided to play a song together. We had never met before. We both appreciated this song, which talks about hope in a new dawning. We recorded our parts separately at our houses during curfew and put them together using some software I do not remember which. Here is the result.
We have never met in person yet, but we can say we have already made music together.
During the COVID pandemic, I decided to refurbish my bicycle. I had never done it before, so it became an artistic adventure I eagerly embraced. I chose the colors, created a stencil with the word vélo—which refers both bicycle and speed—and recorded the entire process on video.
Once finished, for the first time ever, I also created a trap beat and wrote some lyrics about my feelings toward the bicycle and the whole refurbishing experience. The final result is bizarre but, to me, very interesting.
I used FL Studio for music production, HitFilm Express for video editing, and Adobe Photoshop for the poster design. The footage was captured using a cell phone and a GoPro. I learned a lot throughout the process.
